About a year ago I discovered these guys after a girlfriend recommended their album to me. I believe her exact words were, "Erica, you need to listen to these guys, you'll poop your pants..." And I have to hand it to my friend, I really have been pooping my pants over them ever since.

Viva Voce (meaning "word of mouth" in Italian) consists of Anita and Kevin Robinson. They are a married couple from Portland, Oregon and are just about the cutest most talented little guys you ever did see. We caught up with them at Bumbershoot, and they were a pleasure to chat with, and just downright cool (video).

Anita and Kevin's style is hardly summed up into one genre. Or even several for that matter. They are truly original, and immensely talented. Talking with them was a very exciting experience considering I believe they're one of the greatest bands in the world.

With a name like that how can you resist? If you've been looking for some downright good power pop, then Merry Christmas, here you go. The New Pornographers are good stuff. They literally lit up the stage at their sold-out show at The Showbox while their excited fans bounced from one end of the room to the other. We talked to them a little bit about life on the road, what it was like to win a Juno award, and why they think their new album "Challengers" is the best one yet.

Ever heard four hot chicks sing about wet dreams, sugar daddies, and wanting to ride someone like a horse without a saddle? Ladies and Gentlemen, meet The Hot Toddies from Oakland, California.

After hearing so much buzz around town for their new song "Seattle" we decided to pop our heads into their show at Chop Suey and see what all the fuss was about. After seeing their truly charming show, and seeing how uber cute they are, we were convinced. They are the innocent girls next door with little devils horns hidden under their bonnets. Their lyrics are naughty and clever, and a true treat to listen to.

I was able to chat with them a little bit about how they met, where they draw inspiration for their music, and about "the huge boner" they have for Seattle.

Meet Snow Keim, Garnet Keim and Bob Husak. Put them all together, add a splash of sass and beer, and you get: The Blakes. One of Seattle's most talked about rock bands.

In my opinion these guys are just about the epitome of what rock and roll is all about: shaggy hair, wicked tunes, and an enthusiastic tambourine player with extremely tight pants.

After enjoying their A+ performance at KEXP's Summer BBQ, I had the (brief!) opportunity of chatting it up with them about everything from the origin of their band's name to how to poach eggs in a coffee maker. The Blakes are sure to steal your heart if they haven't already. I highly recommend that you check these guys out.

What can I say? These guys effin' rock. RA Scion and DJ/producer Sabzi are the hip-hop duo that you've been waiting for. They call themselves Common Market. Their masterful rhyming, funky riffs that you can't help but booty-jiggle to, and their charisma truly set apart from the rest.

Who says rap is all about forties and guns?! These guys prove that hip-hop can be an insightful and poetic art form. We got to experience their first ever performance at The Showbox.

After thoroughly enjoying their show, we had the opportunity to chat with RA Scion (Sabzi was away with The Blue Scholars during our interview) who let us in on a little bit of what it's like to be a working class citizen by day, and local celebrity by night.
